Quotes from The Treatise on the Great Prajñāpāramitā
(Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa), Vol. 5
“Neither arising nor ceasing,
Neither extinct nor permanent,
Neither identical nor different,
Neither going nor coming.”
Excerpts from An Exposition on the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra
Venerable Xiao Pingshi
“The Buddha-nature of the reality-suchness of the single Buddha Vehicle is neither arising nor extinct, denoting permanence. It does not arise or decease, thus denoting bliss. It is neither non-existent nor existent and neither increasing nor decreasing; thus, it denotes the True Self. It is not attached to the six sense objects and is beyond the notion of seeing, hearing, perceiving, and knowing, and does not come or go. It is intrinsically pure; thus, it denotes purity.”
